Overview
We undertook the refurbishment of a three-bedroom chalet bungalow to enhance accessibility and improve the living conditions for its occupier. The primary objective was to provide a more functional and accessible living environment by incorporating features such as a hoist system, automatic doors, and improved wheelchair access.
Scope of Work
Structural Modifications:
Repositioning of the staircase to allow for adequate wheelchair turning space.
Rearrangement of the ground floor layout to accommodate an additional accessible bedroom and a large ensuite.
Rear remodelling of the property to facilitate wheelchair access.
Installation of a new porch roof and level access to the front door.
Accessibility Enhancements:
Installation of a hoist system to provide seamless access from the bedroom to the ensuite.
Automatic door installation throughout the ground floor for ease of movement.
Replacement of the canopy in the back garden with all-weather decking to enhance usability.
Construction of a ramped entrance with a canopy at the front door, featuring a Ring door system for enhanced security and accessibility.
Mechanical and Electrical Upgrades:
Full electrical and heating system upgrade, including a new insulated tank and a high-efficiency combi boiler.
Integration of the fire alarm system with the door automation to ensure resident safety.
Aesthetic and Functional Improvements:
Full redecoration upon completion to refresh and modernise the living space.
Implementation of late-stage design modifications to accommodate evolving client requirements.
