Completed:

July 2024

Overview:
The Cavalry Crescent project in Windsor focused on the partial refurbishment of 53 ex-military homes, preparing them for sale. The client, Annington Homes, emphasised energy efficiency and sustainability throughout the project, requiring significant upgrades to meet modern standards. The scope included insulation, structural repairs, and full interior refurbishments. The project faced additional challenges with five homes affected by severe subsidence, necessitating specialised ground stabilisation services.

Scope of Works:
Refurbishment of 53 Homes: The project involved refurbishing 24 three-bedroom and 29 two-bedroom
homes, many of which had been unoccupied or disused for an extended period. The upgrades included new roof coverings, additional insulation to meet current energy efficiency standards, and interior refurbishments, including new kitchens, bathrooms, radiators, boilers, and flooring throughout.

Energy Efficiency Focus: The client prioritised energy efficiency, leading to the use of modern insulation
and heating systems. All windows and doors were recycled through specialist recycling services, contributing to the project’s sustainable approach.

Subsidence Repairs: Five homes were severely affected by subsidence, requiring the services of a ground stabilisation firm. This specialist team was on-site for approximately six weeks to stabilise the properties before additional structural repairs could be made. After stabilisation, the main refurbishment continued as planned.

Interior and Exterior Upgrades: In addition to energy efficiency improvements, the project included full decoration and the installation of new flooring. The exterior of the homes was also refreshed, creating a more inviting appearance for potential buyers.

Summary:
The Cavalry Crescent project successfully transformed 53 ex-military homes, bringing them up to modern
living and energy efficiency standards. Despite challenges, including subsidence in five homes, the project was completed within the planned 23-month timeline. Now fully refurbished and structurally sound, the homes are ready for purchase, offering modern, energy-efficient living spaces. Due to the high quality of finish and the appealing design of the properties, these have now already been sold.
