The Bury St. Edmunds Ambulance Hub is a critical facility for the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST), designed to enhance operational efficiency and support the emergency response needs of the region. The project involved a complete Category B fit-out of a section of a new building the training suite, which included air conditioning, ventilation, lighting, ceiling, floor finishes, joinery, and power/data installations. Additionally, the Hub features a dedicated area for 33 ambulances, with an integrated vehicle repair workshop and preparation area, allowing for quicker turnaround times and increased vehicle uptime, directly contributing to the efficiency of emergency response operations.

Scope of Work

Complete Category B Fit-Out: This included all elements required to make the building fully functional for ambulance services, ensuring it met operational and regulatory standards.

Ventilation & Air Conditioning: A comprehensive system was installed, including both air conditioning and ventilation to ensure a comfortable and climate-controlled environment for staff working long shifts.

Lighting: Energy-efficient LED lighting systems were installed to ensure proper lighting in all areas, optimising visibility, and safety for ambulance staff.

Ceiling and Floor Finishes: Modern ceiling solutions were installed along with durable floor finishes to ensure ease of maintenance, cleanliness, and longevity in high-traffic areas.

Joinery: Custom joinery was installed throughout the training suite.

Power & Data Systems: The installation of power and data systems was important, ensuring that ambulance crews have access to the necessary technology and communications equipment at all times.

The ambulance hub became operational halfway through the fit-out process, making it a unique challenge to work in a live environment.
